About Us

Riley Physiotherapists is based at The Gillitts Medical Centre, Durban, Kwazulu Natal. We also provide a physiotherapy and rehabilitation service at consultation rooms in Le Domaine and Rob Roy, in addition to seeing patients in all nursing homes in the upper Highway area. This team of physiotherapists are proficient and professional, yet small enough to offer the personal touch.

About

Candice Rommers obtained her B. Physiotherapy degree from the University of kwaZulu Natal in 2014. She participated in the UKZN “Young Health Scientists Research Symposium” and was awarded the best Final Year Physiotherapy Research Project. She also received the Dean’s Commendation for her final two years. She started her career in a hospital setting and has been involved in treating an array of conditions including chest infections, sinusitis, cardiac problems, cancer, chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes and reduced mobility following prolonged illness or bedrest. She has also gained extensive experience in the treatment of neurological conditions, such as stroke, Parkinsons, MS, neuropathy etc. Candice has a passion for caring for older patients and runs our satellite practice at Le Domaine. Candice also has a special interest in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, like neck and back pain, and sports injuries. Candice has done further training in Pilates and provides one-on-one and group Pilates tuition. Candice’s lovely gentle and kind nature, combined with her commitment make her a huge asset to our team.

About

Juli-Ann Riley obtained her BSc Physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in 1999 and her undergraduate research was presented at the University Academic Day. She gathered varied and valuable experience working locally and in the United Kingdom and opened her first private practice in 2003. Juli completed her postgraduate Orthopaedic Manual Therapy course with distinction in 2007 and was awarded the prize for the top student. She has a passion for orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions and has lectured extensively in this field.  Juli was invited to present a paper at the International Physiotherapy Congress in 2009 and had a research paper on “pinched nerves” published in 2011. She has also presented various lectures to physiotherapists on manual therapy, orthopaedic conditions, practice management and ethical issues. Juli was the Physiotherapy Private Practitioners representative for many years and has also been the KZN Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Chairman and the Animal Physiotheray Chairman. Juli was chosen and trained as an IASP (International Association for the Study of Pain) Pain Ambassador and has provided training to various healthcare practitioners throughout the province. She also focuses on the management of pain in the practice. Juli has also recently trained further in Women’s Health Physiotherapy and is passionate about the specific health needs of women.
